A wireless network is the most convenient way to build a home network to which you can connect several devices at once. It is not surprising that more and more users choose wireless technologies. But to enjoy the full benefits of Wi-Fi, you need to set it up.

The question often arises how to set up the Wi-Fi service provided by ByFly. You can do it yourself, without resorting to the services of a master. Let's consider the whole process in detail, taking as an example the setting of the Promsvyaz M-200A modem. Why this particular device? Because the process of connecting it is identical with a similar procedure for a number of other modems.

Preparation

The first step is to connect the device to a computer or laptop using the included patch cord. To configure the modem, you need to go to its web interface. Open any browser and write the following value in the address bar: 192.168.1.1 . You will be prompted for a username and password - by default, both will be "admin".

Web interface does not open

If after entering the address you do not see a window prompting you to enter a username and password, try restarting the modem. Perhaps there was just an initialization error. To reboot your device, unplug it for a few seconds, then plug it back in. Try opening the web interface again.

The next step in case of repeated failure is to reset the modem to factory settings. This may be necessary if someone has already tried to configure the router mode before you, but made a mistake.

To do this, on the body of the device, find a small button or hole next to which it says "Reset". If it's a button, hold it down until the device restarts. If there is a hole, use a small needle, sinking it all the way and waiting for the modem to reboot.

Working with the web interface of the M-200A modem

If everything went well, proceed to setting up the modem. It will be done in two stages - specifying the connection mode and directly setting up the Wi-Fi network.

Initial setup

  1. Click the "Interface Setup" tab. The first section is "Internet", you first need to configure it.
  2. In the ISP section, select the "PPPoA / PPPoE" mode
  3. Next, write down its settings. "Username" and "Password" must be specified in the contract.
  4. Set "Bridge Interface" to "Activated".
  5. Set the "Default Route" to "Yes".
  6. After setting all the necessary parameters on the modem, click "Save".

Now you have to configure Wi-Fi directly on the Promsvyaz M-200A modem.

Network check and error correction

If you have completed all the steps correctly, then your Promsvyaz M-200A modem will be able to work in router mode, distributing wireless Internet. If you set up ByFly provider services on a laptop, disconnect the patch cord from its network card and search for available connections.

In the list of available points, select the name of the network that you just configured and click "Connect". You will be prompted to enter a security code - an eight-digit password that you entered when setting up the modem in its web interface. Click "OK" and wait while connecting to the ByFly wireless network.

Try to open any Internet resource. If none of the portals load or if you can't connect your laptop to the wireless network at all, try the following:

Note: these parameters can be specified in the agreement concluded with the provider (in this case, ByFly) or on the official website of the Internet service provider.
