When you know your own lucky number, it is possible to recognize the signs of fate in order to grab luck by the tail in time. We present three methods for calculating a personal number and obtaining a brief description of the owner.

In the article:

Numerology of lucky numbers

Every person has a lucky number. They know it without calculations, simply by noticing the pattern that a certain number brings good luck. But when you haven’t noticed this, turn to numerology.

There are a number of schools of numerology: Pythagorean, Chaldean, Kabbalistic, Vedic, Chinese. There are options for ways to calculate a successful number. Depending on it, the interpretation undergoes changes.

An easy way to calculate your lucky number

According to the first method, this is . The day you were born, for example, January 5, then the five attracts good luck. When the date consists of two digits, 10, 23, 31, the calculation algorithm is different. Add these two components, the result will be your lucky number.

Let's find out the number of luck

This calculation is more complicated than the previous one. You will need 3 dates: your birthday, father's and mother's. Add everything up and divide by three. The resulting integer is a talisman.

The man was born on November 17, 1994, his mother on March 25, 1968, and his father on June 10, 1965. Add these dates together:

17.11.1994 + 10.06.1965 + 25.03.1968
=
1+7+1+1+1+9+9+4 + 1+0+0+6+1+9+6+5 + 2+5+0+3+1+9+6+8 = 95
Then divide the result by three
95 / 3= 31,6(6)
And a person’s lucky number becomes 31

Your date of birth:

Father's date of birth:

Mother's date of birth:

The result obtained is an indicator of luck. When you constantly notice this number, the day or undertaking will be successful.

Determining the lucky number by name

Below is Kairo’s Cyrillic table, according to it, any letter has a digital equivalent:

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
ABINGDEYoANDZ
ANDYTOLMNABOUTPR
WITHTUFXCHShSCH
KommersantYbEYUI

Let's take the name Ekaterina and understand the calculation algorithm. Referring to the table, let's make the calculation:

E(6) + K(3) + A(1) + T(2) + E(6) + P(9) + I(1) + H(6) + A(1) = 35

Lucky number for Catherine - 35 .

We break it down into its components and bring it to a clear result. And in addition we get a brief description of the person.

35 = 3+5 = 8.

The correct numbers are considered to be from 1 before 7 . 8 equals 4 , and 9 – 3 .

1 is the number of a leader, a self-confident person. You are forced to take control of the situation, even if you don't want to. A person whose number is 1 cannot stand being dependent even on the closest people. This is both a strength and a weakness. You need to learn to trust your loved ones more and not control everything that happens in the family. In addition, this person always strives for power and respect, even the veneration of other people. “The end justifies the means” - this statement belongs to one of them. These are very energetic and active people. They cannot be called lazy in any way. However, in some cases, these qualities manifest themselves in the form of excessive fussiness. “Ones” are very ambitious and proud and often consider themselves the ultimate truth. These qualities help in building a career, but interfere with your personal life. It is advisable to have some kind of amulet in the form of a unit, for example a piece of jewelry.

2 - feels and understands people well. A “two” person is in dire need of someone close to him, for whom life is worth living. He is often indecisive precisely because of his dual nature. He is not very ambitious in terms of his career; family and relationships are what is most important to him. However, if somehow work comes first for him, the “two” can achieve excellent results. He is especially good at professions where he needs to communicate with people, like a psychologist or a teacher. It should be noted that this applies only to those people who have accepted their nature and, in general, are harmonious individuals. It also happens that, in case of disappointment in the person they love most, they fall into a sluggish depression and begin to be afraid of people, trying to avoid them with all their might. An object that consists of two parts connected together is suitable as an amulet to attract good luck.

3 is probably the most cheerful number of all existing ones. People with a three may have different character traits, but the main one will remain unchanged - they know how to enjoy life. It doesn’t matter in what circumstances they were born or live, deep down, “threes” remain children and can appreciate the simple joys of life. But this also has a bad side. So, they are quite capricious, it is very difficult for them to do what they should and do not want. They are fickle, and this applies equally to both people and hobbies. They can easily let other people down, for example, by not doing work on time or being late for an important event. It is important for them that their loved ones accept them as they are and do not put pressure on them.

4 is a pragmatic number, focused on the material side of life. People whose number is 4 are often pedantic and have an analytical mind. They are much more interested in the world of numbers than interacting with people. “Fours” make good programmers and accountants. They are very reserved people, but, nevertheless, very sensitive to praise. Many note their determination, sometimes turning into fanaticism. They are straightforward, but at the same time tactful individuals, so it is better not to ask them awkward questions: you will put them in an awkward position. In their personal lives, they are guided more by common sense rather than by feelings. But they cannot be considered insensitive; they simply place reason and logic above emotional impulses. An excellent talisman for “fours” is a decoration in the form of a four-leaf clover.

5 is the number of unpredictability, changeability, excitement and luck. If the previous “four” was a symbol of stability, then the “five,” on the contrary, gives its owner lightness and recklessness. These people do not recognize authorities and restrictions. They are very mobile and can bring home comfort even to a tent. They often do not have any constants in life. People with the number 5 constantly change jobs, move from place to place, easily start and just as easily break off relationships and friendships. However, these individuals usually have a very broad outlook and a variety of skills. Born explorers and archaeologists, they may be prone to crime. The mascot is a small globe.

6 is the number of harmony, tranquility, family comfort. The most important thing in life for a Six person is family. He is infinitely devoted to his loved ones and in case of misunderstanding or quarrel he takes it very hard. These people love order, the eternal chaos in the life of “fives” is alien to them, so it is better for these two types not to intersect. They are very compliant and gentle, attentive to others, which is why they make excellent parents. At work, “Sixes” are loved for their diplomatic abilities to resolve any conflict, as well as for their responsibility and friendliness. However, their bosses turn out to be so-so. They worry too much about their subordinates and are ready to indulge them in everything. Amulet - umbrella.

7 is the number of a loner, a philosopher. They do not try to change reality, but just observe it. In fact, it is the most isolated of all signs. He does not need either family or friends if they limit his freedom or do not understand him. That is why any close person is perceived by him as a gift from above and is greatly appreciated. The material side of life does not matter to them, however, “sevens” often achieve a “high position” in life. Probably the most mysterious group. They are prone to the occult, mysticism and everything unknown. They often have creative talents.

4 (8 in this case is equal to 4) is a pragmatic number, focused on the material side of life.

BASICS OF NUMEROLOGY

FIRST INTRODUCTION TO NUMBERS

Numerology has principles and concepts that are common to all calculations. For example, the concept basic numbers. The basic numbers in numerology are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. They all have their own meanings (different in different calculations). If during the calculation process you get a number following nine, this number is not basic and you need to add further (10 = 1 + 0 = 1). But numbers 11 and 22 are exceptions. In numerology they have a special meaning and are called master numbers. The master number is a higher order number. A person in whose calculations 11 or 22 appears must definitely know about this and draw the appropriate conclusions for himself. True, in practice, a person who receives 11 or 22 in calculations rarely fully corresponds to the concept of a master number, so you can add further (1 + 1 = 2, 2 + 2 = 4). However, the presence of these numbers, even in intermediate calculations, has a strong influence on his life.

Unit

One is a symbol of self-confidence. It emphasizes such human qualities as independence, leadership, and ambition. This number is characterized by the desire to go towards the goal in one’s own way, without counting on anyone’s help, and the desire to be the first in everything.

The characteristics of a Two can be expressed in words: friendliness, contact, compliance, objectivity. Two has the gift of maintaining relationships with people in any setting and under any conditions.

Troika

Troika is a great storyteller and an equally great listener. The scope of her talents is not limited, but most often manifests itself in literature. Troika can turn boring everyday life into a constant holiday. Doesn't get discouraged under any circumstances. Eternal optimist.

Four

Four, at first glance, seems like an unlucky number. This number is not due to difficulties, but to hard work. Yes, the Four does not get anything for nothing, but the satisfaction from the result obtained is much greater than that of others. Not everyone succeeds in finding a foothold to turn the world upside down, but the Four is capable of this. Reliability, sincerity, vitality - these are the main features of this number.

Five

Five is a parade of possibilities. Festival of abilities and interests. Always full of enthusiasm, people of this number prefer to be on the move. The variety of interests allows her to communicate with a variety of people and receive not only pleasure from it, but also benefit.

The key concept for the Six is maintaining balance in everything: this includes relationships with people of other numbers and material well-being. For this number, for complete happiness, it is not enough to just receive; you also need to give, and this applies to everything: friendship, love, knowledge.

Seven

The destiny of the Seven is solitude, research, and the pursuit of perfection. People of this number adore everything mysterious and strive to understand the essence of all phenomena. Seven prefers to accumulate experience and knowledge on their own, not trusting the judgments of other people. The desire for solitude becomes especially strong in difficult life situations.

Eight

Complete materialist. He doesn’t take anything for granted; he demands proof of everything. Only a real, tangible, practical result is recognized as positive. The essence of this number is: determination, fearlessness, responsibility, competence. Eight is sometimes called the “businessman’s number.”

Nine

The defining task for Nine is serving people. The main difficulty in fulfilling this mission is to learn to give what you already have without demanding anything in return.

Master number Eleven

Master number. Representatives of this number usually have increased intuition and the ability to use internal reserves inaccessible to other people. They can make various discoveries and comprehend things hidden to most. However, the capabilities of this master number are not so often used in everyday life. Often the number 11 simply reduces to Two.

Master number Twenty two

Another master number, even stronger than 11. A person with this master number can exhibit extrasensory abilities and become literally a Creator and Creator. These people have charisma, a talent for organizing, and can subdue and captivate people. However, in ordinary life, the properties of the number 22 are realized very rarely and, as a rule, 22 is reduced to the usual Four.

Secrets of Numerology

Numerology is one of the most ancient sciences. To some extent, the numbers themselves form their own language, which was understood and used by many ancient peoples. And in many alphabets, numerical values were also assigned to letters. The roots of the most famous numerological systems, which have been and are used by esotericists all over the world, “grow” from the depths of centuries.

Numerology (usually called gematria in the broad sense of the word) is one of the most interesting sections of Kabbalah - the doctrine of the hidden meanings of sacred texts in Judaism; it has long attracted the attention of non-Jewish philosophers and occultists, especially in the Middle Ages. Since then, any self-respecting mystic cannot be considered such without touching the study of Kabbalistic secrets. By the way, interest in Kabbalah today has flared up with renewed vigor also because the famous singer Madonna has become actively interested in this teaching, and she does not forget to report her successes in the press on time.

Of course, it is impossible to talk about such serious things as comprehending the deep secrets of the universe “in brief,” but, strictly speaking, we do not pretend to do so. We are interested in how to lift the veil over the mysteries that our names hold, using numerological codes. How does numerology “work”?

The basic principles of Kabbalistic numerology can be summarized as follows:

The letters of the Hebrew alphabet, like numbers, are the fundamental energies with which God created the Universe.

Each letter corresponds to its own number.

Consequently, each combination of letters (in a word, in a phrase) has its own number.

The equality of numbers of different words and phrases is never accidental; it speaks of the kinship of the concepts and ideas expressed by these words and phrases. (“Kinship” does not necessarily mean equivalence; sometimes diametrically opposed concepts can have the same number.)

The search for the meaning of sacred texts, names and terms based on numbers has been a favorite pastime of Kabbalists in all ages. The numerological techniques they developed are often divided into three categories: gematria (in the narrow sense of the word), notarikon and temura.

Gematria is a technique for calculating the numerical values of letters, words, and phrases.

Notarikon is a very important technique of Kabbalistic numerology: expanding words into whole phrases and collapsing phrases into words. In the first case, each letter of the analyzed word is understood as the first (or last, or middle - different options are possible) of another word.

Temura – translated into Russian means “replacement”, “substitution”. Instead of some letters, others are substituted into the word and a new word is obtained, explaining or modifying the meaning of the first. Kabbalistic numerology methods are designed to analyze Hebrew words and texts. Many mystics were concerned with questions: can they be applied to other languages? Is it possible to analyze Greek, Latin, English, Russian texts and words using gematria, notarikon and temura?

Those enthusiasts who believed that a non-Jewish Kabbalah was possible followed one of two paths. Letters in the Latin and Cyrillic alphabet either received continuous serial numbering based on the model of the Hebrew alphabet (1), or were reduced to certain Hebrew letters and received the corresponding gematria values (2).

Proponents of the first approach (which has become widespread in the so-called “Pythagorean” numerology and its varieties) argue that the Latin (Cyrillic) alphabet has no less spirituality and internal logic than the Hebrew letters. They developed the way we know them not by chance and perfectly correspond to their languages. Therefore, the number of any letter is its gematria (numbers greater than 9 are reduced to single digits).

The position of supporters of the second approach (“genetic”) can be expressed as follows. Even leaving aside the question of the divine origin of the Hebrew language and the twenty-two sacred letters, one cannot help but admit that the Hebrew alphabet is very ancient. The number of letters in it has not changed for thousands of years. This cannot be said about the Latin alphabet, and especially about our Cyrillic alphabet. The last reform of the alphabet occurred quite recently by historical standards, and to this day it is not entirely clear whether I should be considered a separate letter or just a modification of the letter E. On the other hand, both the Latin and Cyrillic alphabet come from the Greek alphabet, which, in turn, , – from Phoenician. The Phoenician alphabet is, if not the father, then the brother of the Paleo-Hebrew.

Thus, it is possible to correlate Latin and Russian letters with Hebrew through Greek. (And in the Cyrillic alphabet, in general, some letters are borrowed directly from the “square” letter.) At the same time, the “quality of energy vibration” of the letters will be preserved.

This is easy to suggest, but not so easy to implement. The problem of matching letters of alphabets still does not have a clear solution. Here, for example, are possible options (see table, pp. 78–79).

As an intellectual exercise, you can try to research your name and the names of family members, friends, written in Cyrillic, and also translate them into Latin writing (let's say your name is Sophia - Sophia, Peter - Piter, etc.). Calculate the number of the name (see below) in different versions and compare. There may be some interesting results.

But, in order not to complicate our lives, since a unified system of numerological correspondences has not yet been found, without plunging into the labyrinths and depths of Kabbalistic philosophy and its esoteric doctrines, let us take modern numerology as a guide to action. She favors a simplified numerical and alphabetic code based on the theories of Pythagoras, the great ancient Greek mathematician and mystic who rose to fame around 550 BC. According to this theory, Pythagoras, his students and followers, when calculating, found the opportunity to reduce all numbers to numbers from 1 to 9 inclusive, since they are the initial ones from which all others can be obtained.

Twenty centuries later, one of the most learned people of his time, the famous mystic and philosopher Cornelius Agrippa, in his work “Occult Philosophy,” published in 1533, named these numbers and their meanings. The followers of Agrippa expanded these interpretations, highlighting separately the meanings of the number of the name and the number of birth. This is very important to know, since these numbers contain information that determines a lot in fate.

The Soviet Union is spoken of as a country covered with a network of total control. But there were also holes in the network. For example, in the medium wave range, where, despite the bans, starting from the mid-1960s in different regions of the country, in addition to state radio stations, the voices of illegal radio transmitters could be heard. Their owners called themselves free operators, each went on the air under their own call sign. One of them, “Rigoletto” from Tashkent, then a sixteen-year-old teenager, and today a Moscow journalist Alexander Popov, tells how it was.

In 2018, the Republic of Estonia celebrated the 100th anniversary of its independence. Skeptical opinions on the part of historians, who point to Estonia's long presence as part of the USSR, did not prevent official Tallinn from holding many events dedicated to this round date. A special point was the perpetuation of the memory of Ivan Poska, thanks to whom Estonia acquired its modern borders in 1920.

It often happens that names and nicknames, as well as titles, are assigned by us to anything very arbitrarily. The example of America, named after Amerigo Vespucci, and not in honor of its discoverer Columbus, has become a textbook example. But it turns out that in military affairs there are also many such oddities. The history of the lemon grenade, which became an extremely popular weapon in the 20th century, is very indicative in this regard.

We remember automobile rallies as a striking weapon “for off-roading and sloppiness” thanks to the legendary novel “The Golden Calf.” But the start of car rallies in the Soviet Union was given long before the publication of the novel by Ilya Ilf and Yevgeny Petrov. They began almost immediately after the appearance on the planet of a car with an internal combustion engine. The first who tried to “hit with a motor rally” in the USSR was... hereditary aristocrat, Minister of Railways in the government of Nicholas II, Prince Mikhail Ivanovich Khilkov.

From his youth, Adolf Schlagintveit was fascinated by the mysterious East, its alluring mysterious cultures, and dreamed of distant travels. But he hardly suspected how this passion of his would end...

Even a person who is only superficially familiar with ancient Russian history knows the name of Princess Olga - the first ruler of Rus' to convert to Christianity. Yes, the personality is memorable. How she took revenge on the Drevlyans for the death of Igor, her husband! She burned the whole city and did not spare Iskorosten. And then she also dealt with the Drevlyan ambassadors. Yes, so cruelly that doubts involuntarily creep in: could a future Christian really do this?

Contrary to the official myth, Makarenko was never a party member and died non-party. This happened in 1939, on a train, on the way to Moscow. Security officers were waiting for him at the station. They were waiting to arrest. Whether Anton Semyonovich knew about this is unknown. He lay down on a bench, feeling unwell, and died before the doctor arrived. After opening the body, it turned out that his heart, like an apple, was torn into two halves...

On that day, July 16, 1676, all of Paris was buzzing like an alarmed beehive. Of course, it’s not every day that such a dangerous criminal, and besides, a woman, is executed. And not just any woman, but one of the first beauties of the French kingdom.

Secret knowledge. Secrets of numerology, palmistry, astrology, fortune telling Schwarz Theodor

1. CODES OF LIFE AND DESTINY. NUMEROLOGY

Probably everyone is familiar with the fantastic coincidence of circumstances when, at an exam, being not very prepared, you pull out a lucky ticket - and good luck in your pocket; or you buy a plane ticket - and everything in life immediately begins to turn out brilliantly and complex problems are resolved as if by themselves.

However, it also happens the other way around: everything falls out of hand and even a simple problem cannot be solved. In this case, you say: “Today is not my day!”, and this is true: on such a day, your energy, the energy of the people around you and the day as a whole, most likely came into conflict. You intuitively assume that such days are best devoted to rest or less important work, that is, as they say, wait it out.

It turns out that this is quite a wise decision. It has a completely scientific basis. However, the amazing science of numerology can give more than one very useful advice.

Numerical coincidences occur all the time - in telephone and car numbers, in addresses and floor numbers, in dates of birth. These are not random coincidences, but a well-defined relationship, the so-called magic of numbers. Numbers not only allow you to measure quantities, but also indicate properties and qualitative characteristics, draw your attention to various phenomena and can tell you a lot. Numbers have a magical, inevitable effect on your life, on a variety of events, and it is impossible to deny that the magic of numbers exists. You just need to find the key to their secret code.

This code has long been solved. Numerology claims that numbers have certain properties, which they extend to all objects and phenomena of the world. They carry a special pulsating energy, or vibration, and communicate it to the reality in which they exist. One of the important provisions of this science is that the number is a sign for the coincidence of cosmic, energetic and other influences on global and local events in the Universe, and therefore on human life.

The thinkers of antiquity considered number as the basis of everything in the world, believing that numbers reflect the properties of space, energy and sound. A special role in the development of numerology belongs to the great Pythagoras, an ancient Greek philosopher and mathematician who combined mathematics with the sciences of human nature.

Pythagoras argued that everything can be represented in the form of numbers, which rule the world. The scientist believed that numbers predetermine a person’s fate, guide his life, bring good luck or trouble.

In his research, he came to the conclusion that all multi-digit numbers ultimately mean the same as simple numbers and can be reduced to them - from 1 to 9 inclusive. These nine digits form the basis of all numbers. Pythagoras also showed the connection between numbers and geometric figures: both numbers have magical properties, and the corresponding figures have amazing qualities. Single digit numbers from 1 to 9 have their own history and special pulsating energy, or vibrations. They are able to impart their properties to all surrounding objects and phenomena with which they come into contact.

Modern numerology is based on the classical numerical and alphabetic code, based specifically on the theories of Pythagoras. Following the great scientist, you will learn to reduce multi-digit numbers, such as 2398 or 565,342, to single digits (single-digit numbers from 1 to 9), which indicate certain characteristics and parameters. Each letter of the alphabet has a numerical expression through its serial number, so any word, including a name, can be subjected to numerological analysis. Therefore, a person can be represented through prime numbers. Truly everything ingenious is simple!

The ancient Greeks learned to add the numerical values of all the letters of words that were important to them and received a mystical number meaning a given word. The Greeks called this addition process isopsephy (“iso” - equal, “psephos” - pebble, and the Greeks used pebbles in the study of arithmetic). Later, for interpreting the Torah, this method came to be called gematria (presumably from the Greek word for geometry).

Pythagoras was undoubtedly familiar with isopsephy and used it in his research. It was believed that if two words or two phrases have the same numerical value, then there is some kind of invisible connection between the concepts corresponding to these words. In addition, the numerical sum of a word or phrase could itself have a certain mystical meaning.

For example, the name Jesus in Greek transcription has a sum of 888, and exactly the same sum is obtained by adding the letters of the phrase “I am Life.” The names of the ancient Greek gods also had corresponding numerological parameters.

However, there is no complete correspondence between ancient Greek isopsephy and modern numerology. This science has gone through many stages of development and has been filled with new knowledge, methods and interpretations. Nevertheless, there is a connection between them, and the most direct one.

Of course, it would be naive to hope that absolutely all the secrets will be revealed to you and you will find out what specific events will happen, for example, tomorrow. No one can give such detailed information and forecasts. However, you will certainly be able to feel the trends in the development of events, the direction of your actions, their logic much more subtly. It is to feel, and not to recognize, since numerology gives impetus to reflection, analysis and the development of intuition.

Classic numerology. Teachings of Pythagoras

The birth and fate of Pythagoras of Samos were predicted by the priestess of the temple of Apollo at Delphi, Pythia. She predicted that he would surpass all others in beauty and wisdom and would bring much benefit to people for all times. The name Pythagoras did not arise by chance; it seems to repeat the name of the priestess. True, there is another version that he was called Pythagoras because he spoke the truth as infallibly as the priestess-soothsayer of the Delphic oracle.

Little reliable information about Pythagoras has reached us. His original texts, like the written evidence of Pythagoras or his early followers, have not survived at all. The life and works of the great scientist of antiquity were reproduced mainly from the works of other ancient authors, mostly Pythagoreans. It is known that Pythagoras was born around 570 BC on the island of Samos in Asia Minor. Until the age of 18, he lived on Samos, then settled on the island of Lesbos, where he studied with the philosopher Pherecydes. Two years later, Pythagoras moved to the city of Miletus (Asia Minor), where he studied mathematics and celestial mechanics under the guidance of Thales and Anaximander, famous scientists of that time. Then Pythagoras ended up in Egypt, where he lived for more than 20 years, penetrating the wisdom and secrets of the priests of this country. After the invasion of Egypt by the troops of the Persian king Cambyses, Pythagoras, along with other priests, was taken captive and ended up in Babylon, where he spent 12 years.

Later, Pythagoras founded his ethical and religious school in Croton (a Greek colony in southern Italy) - the Pythagorean Brotherhood, where various sciences were taught: arithmetic, geometry and astronomy - and the most important discoveries were made. Before Pythagoras, there was the concept of “sage” - that’s what learned people called themselves, and this concept meant a person who knows. The modest Pythagoras first coined the term “philosopher,” which defines a person who is just trying to find out, to find out. He considered himself and called himself a philosopher.

The science of numbers became the center of all the ideas of the great scientist. Pythagoras came to the conclusion that the basis of the universe is number, that is, a numerical scheme.

Pythagoras substantiated the science of numbers in the book “Hieros Logos” (“Sacred Word”), which came to us through the works of the Pythagoreans. In this science, which was known to the servants of the ancient Egyptian temples, Pythagoras went further than his predecessors. In each number he accumulated one or another principle, one or another law, one or another active force of the Universe. He said that the basis of everything that exists is contained in the first four numbers, because by adding or multiplying them together, you can find all the other numbers.

The study of space and comprehension of the structure of the universe were one of the most important areas of Pythagoras’s work. He was the first to call the Universe cosmos, which means structure, building, and developed the doctrine of space as a logical, harmonious whole, subject to the laws of harmony and number. According to his theory, number is the principle of sound harmony, which is determined by mathematical laws. Sound harmony is a special case of universal harmony, as if its musical expression.

From the musical-numerical structure of the cosmos, Pythagoras came to the creation of the Harmony of the Spheres (it is also called the Music of the Spheres), symbolically expressed in the sum of the first four numbers: 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10, which contains the basic musical intervals: octave (2: 1) , fifth (3:2) and fourth (4:3). For Pythagoras, music was derived from the divine science of mathematics, and its harmonies were controlled by mathematical proportions.

Musical rhythm is set using numbers. The fundamental tone can be 400 vibrations per second, the octave as the first overtone - 800 vibrations per second, the fifth - 1200, the fourth - 1600, the major third - 2000 vibrations. This series of overtones is determined by a numerical ratio. Pythagoras showed that the musical intervals known in his time - octave, fifth and fourth - can be expressed by the relationship between the numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4. Dividing a string in half (1/2) gives an octave, further dividing into three parts (2/ 3) gives a fifth, division by four (3/4) - a fourth, etc. This reveals the integrity of the string, which contains all the notes expressed in fractions of one. The pitch of the sound depends on the length of the string. Everything turned out to be simple, and this prompted the Pythagoreans to further research in order to reduce all the phenomena of the Universe to numbers and find a mathematical principle that would order them. Pythagoras proved that the Universe is expressed in numbers from one to four, which, when added to 10, become the source of all things. The numbers one to four add up to 10 (1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10) - a sacred number that represents the integrity and perfection of the Universe, and the celestial bodies are subject to similar laws of harmony. This was the concept of the Music of the Spheres.

It is interesting that Pythagoras recognized the immortality of the soul and its gradual purification through reincarnation: after the death of the body, the soul moves into a new body. Today, the idea of reincarnation has gained incredible popularity. The soul, according to Pythagoras, can be purified through research and knowledge of the musical-numerical structure of the cosmos, which is expressed in the same sum of the first four numbers.

Pythagoras expressed the set of main numbers through tetractys - a figure that the Pythagoreans especially revered and bowed to (Fig. 1.1).

Rice. 1.1. Tetractys Pythagoras

Tetractys clearly demonstrates the Pythagorean formula 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10. This way you can represent numbers with any identical signs, for example dots or crosses. This method is also used in modern numerology.

The Pythagoreans showed the primacy of arithmetic in relation to astronomy, because the latter relies on music and geometry. The size, shape and movement of celestial bodies are determined through geometry, and their harmony and rhythm through music. If you take away astronomy, neither geometry nor music will suffer, but if you take away geometry and music, astronomy becomes helpless. Arithmetic is fundamental and primary to everything. This science was thoroughly studied in the Pythagorean school.

The Pythagoreans argued that mathematics reproduced the exact method by which God constructed and established the universe. Consequently, numbers precede harmony, since their immutable laws govern all harmonic proportions. Harmony, however, can be expressed through numbers. The center of Pythagoras’ philosophical teaching was the concept of harmony; he developed the idea of regularity, but more on that a little later.

The Pythagoreans also paid attention to the presence in the Universe of pairs of opposites, which do not exist one without the other, and believed that they were an important factor in its structure. In total, there were five main pairs of opposites: even - odd, one - many, right - left, male - female, good - evil. “One,” “right,” “masculine,” and “good” were associated with odd numbers; “many”, “left”, “female” and “evil” - with even ones.

When studying prime numbers, it becomes clear that all odd numbers have more energetic and vibrant properties. Compared to the expression and determination of the One, the brilliance and luck of the Three, the constant mobility and versatility of the Five, the intelligence and wisdom of the Seven, as well as the harmony and perfection of the Nine, even numbers look faceless and uninteresting, they lack active colors.

Odd numbers were defined by the Pythagoreans as masculine. Later, Plutarch delicately added that odd numbers have a “generative middle,” while even numbers have a “receptive hole.”

The masculine properties of odd numbers arise from the fact that they are noticeably “stronger” and “more active” than even numbers. When dividing in half, an even number will be divided equally without a remainder, leaving a void in the middle. It is impossible to split an odd number in the same way, because there is always a unit in the middle, or a dot - its geometric symbol.

A particularly important argument in favor of the power of male numbers is the fact that if you add even and odd numbers together, the “odd power” will always win - the result is always odd.

That is why odd numbers are characterized by masculine qualities - active, powerful and creative, and even numbers are characterized by feminine qualities - soft, passive and receptive.

Now it becomes clear where the belief came from that, for example, meeting a woman early in the morning is not good. It turns out that since ancient times, men have been associated with strength and goodness, and women with weakness and evil. Pythagoras was convinced that female even numbers reflect and bring evil, because they can be split into nothing, into empty space.

Odd or masculine numbers were declared sacred because when divided into equal parts they always leave One, thus expressing their supremacy and original advantage.

Other areas of numerology

In the modern world, the Pythagorean, Chaldean and Kabbalistic numerological traditions are considered quite widespread and developed.

Chaldean numerology, which is sometimes called Mystical Numerology, is distinguished by the fact that it retains connections with ancient alphabets. Followers of this movement argue that each letter has a unique digital value, which is determined by the vibration of the letter, and not by its place in the alphabet. In addition, in this tradition only eight numbers are used - from 1 to 8 (and not to nine, as in the Pythagorean system), with which the letters are numbered, and nine is considered a sacred number and is considered separately.

In Pythagorean numerology, a person’s main name is considered to be the one officially given at birth and recorded in the certificate. The Chaldean tradition defines as the main name the name that is most often used in everyday life. It is believed that this numerology is much more complex. Perhaps this is precisely what gives grounds for supporters of Chaldean numerology to claim that since it is more difficult to use, the predictions obtained with its help are more accurate.

The use of this tradition for Russian-speaking people is complicated by the fact that the distribution of letters by numbers in accordance with the principles of Chaldean numerology exists only for the Latin alphabet.

Kabbalistic numerology is based on the Hebrew alphabet and numerical symbolism. In the Tree of Sephiroth (the embodiment of the world model, according to which the Universe is one, and the mechanism of its existence is based on the balance of pairs of opposites), ten stages and places of living space correspond to such key concepts as crown, wisdom, understanding, mercy, strength, etc. In this tradition, only the person's name is analyzed. Otherwise it is quite close to classical numerology, which the Kabbalists expanded by using numbers in magic squares for various purposes.

What do the numbers mean?

All numbers following Nine can be reduced to one of the basic numbers, as Pythagoras did. For example, the number 34 is reduced to the base number 7 (we add its constituent digits, that is, 3 + 4 = 7). Thus, the number 34 corresponds to the base number 7. In the same way, any multi-digit number consisting of an unlimited number of digits can be reduced to a base digit by sequentially adding all the components until one remains.

That is why classical numerology studies mainly nine basic numbers - from one to nine. However, she also pays attention to other numbers.

The number 0, for example in the numbers 10, 100, 1000, etc., does not have a positive numerical value, and therefore is of no practical interest. Ten, hundred, thousand are essentially just variations of the Unit, and they are characterized by qualities peculiar to it.

All small, that is, single-digit, numbers have acquired real legends over their “life.” Some of them are more revered by people, others less. Traditionally, three and seven are considered lucky - they are supposed to bring good luck.

There is a strong belief that the number three is charged with special magical powers, perhaps because it represents the symbol of the Trinity. To protect against evil forces, you need to cross yourself three times, and sometimes for this it is enough to turn around your axis three times. The most interesting thing is that it really helps, if, of course, you sincerely believe in it. It is no coincidence that athletes are given three attempts, and they wait three years for what was promised.

For some peoples, the Nine drives away evil forces and troubles; it also symbolizes fertility and abundance.

According to tradition, a bouquet is made up of an odd number of flowers, and an even number is brought to the cemetery. It is no coincidence that tea and table sets have been made for six or twelve people since time immemorial.

The number 12 symbolizes completion, such as a year, and the achievement of goals.

The number 13 has a special history. In Ancient Greece, it was considered neutral, but later they began to attribute to it everything bad that could happen to a person, and to avoid it in every possible way. He is disliked and feared in many countries. For this dislike and supposedly unkind influence on people, the ill-fated number were even “expelled” from many hotels, cinemas and airplanes.

Let's try to understand the meaning of numbers and learn about the vibrations that they emit to the Universe, and therefore to all people.

Unit, or Monad, - outwardly straight and unbending, pointed, it is always directed upward, like an arrow. The unit is the basis of counting; absolutely all other numbers are derived from it; it is their source and beginning. Each number only repeats a Unit in a set or is composed of many Units. The Unit strives to remain the same and unchanged: the Unit multiplied by the Unit, and the Unit divided by the Unit, gives the Unit again, that is, it does not come out of itself.

The unit symbolizes the beginning of all living things - the Sun. It is the active starting point of all things, the basis of life, the root cause of all things. Unity is the cause of unity of command: one Universe and one Sun, one fire and one soul. The unit embodies the highest point, the center of the Universe. Geometrically, this idea is expressed by a universal symbol - a point in the center of a circle.

The unit contains the whole world and contains all opposites at the same time: good and evil, light and darkness, beginning and end, creation and destruction, love and hate.

This number embodies energy, will, initiative, impulse to action, activity, determination, focus, strength, creativity and individualism. The Unit is also characterized by such special qualities as activity, aggressiveness, authoritarianism, ambition - all these words begin with the letter “A” - first letters of the alphabet.

Under the influence of the Unit, a person tends to show his best qualities - will and determination; he is invariably determined to succeed and achieves it by all possible means. He is proactive and self-confident, able to take responsibility and follow everything to the end. Such a person is a born leader, independent, seeking and welcoming original innovations, dominant in everything. The desire for glory and power is not alien to him.

Such qualities have always been considered inherent in a man, but women also live under the influence of this extraordinary, positive number. In this case, they clearly or covertly manifest the same characteristics of their nature, first of all this is expressed externally - in a proud posture and self-esteem.

Sometimes vibrations of the Unit can also give rise to negative personality traits - stubbornness, intolerance, excessive ambition and self-confidence, individualism and egocentrism.

However, the friendliness of this wonderful number helps to establish good contacts with others, and the ability to critically evaluate oneself and treat oneself with a degree of irony restrains feelings of self-superiority.

Deuce, or Dyad. Every object in the Universe - animal, plant and any natural phenomenon - has two sides, two opposite tendencies that fit into this unusually interesting number. It includes contrast, the confrontation of two opposite principles, the eternal struggle between them.

This is the number of antithesis and eternal opposition: plus and minus, good and evil, day and night, life and death, light and darkness, heat and cold, man and woman, action and peace. Both poles cannot exist without each other. The Two constantly maintains a balance between opposing principles, mixing positive and negative qualities and thus ensuring equality of power, harmony and balance. At the same time, this is a struggle, the cause of eternal movement, and therefore of life itself, which ends with the onset of peace.

The deuce accumulates one of the most important philosophical principles - the unity and struggle of opposites. Unity means the inseparability of the Two: it is like a magnet that can be divided even into the smallest pieces, but it always retains its poles. The poles will never be able to unite, because it will already be a Unit.

Two embodies everything that is contradictory, restless, changeable, passive, submissive, soft, pliable, uncertain and indecisive. Representing balance, harmony, harmony and justice, the Two symbolizes connection, cooperation, duality, caution, attention, forethought, and most importantly, productivity.

It is believed to be the feminine principle, the number of eternal femininity. Geometrically, the Two is represented by two points connected by a straight line.

The main characteristic of people under the influence of the Two is calmness and balance. They do not have the indestructible sense of purpose characteristic of the “units”; they invariably strive for harmony and justice, taking into account the opinions of everyone around them. “Two people” tend to avoid conflicts and any disputes. They are unusually sociable and usually achieve success due to their ability to cooperate, listen to others and compromise.

There are no pronounced deficiencies in the vibrations of the Two. However, people under its influence can become overly passive and timid, completely relying on fate and circumstances. They avoid troubles and struggles by any means, including for their well-being, and do not like to take on even a small responsibility. They lack energy and determination, which can and should be developed in themselves, overcoming the natural desire to remain silent and sit out.

Troika, or Triad, means cheerfulness, talent, adaptability, expressiveness, demonstration, expansiveness, sociability, creativity. The main features of the Troika are fortitude and freedom.

It is no coincidence that the material world and space are three-dimensional - they are height, length and width; time is also three-dimensional - everything happens in the past, present and future; a substance can be in three states - solid, liquid and gaseous.

Three is considered an active masculine sign. It is stable in space - three points of support are enough for its balance.

The number 3 also symbolizes the triple nature of the World, creative perfection and luck, integrity. It's great because it has a beginning, middle and end.

The highest embodiment of the Triad is the Christian Trinity.

Geometrically, the Three is most often represented by a triangle, the sides symbolizing the past, present and future. There are also symbols such as a three-pointed star, three circles inside a large circle and a trident. The latter is especially interesting, as it symbolizes the authority and power, wisdom and higher creativity inherent in this number.

People experiencing the Three vibration are optimistic, strong and open; luck does not pass them by; they know their purpose and strive to bring original ideas to life. Organizational skills and enthusiasm help them achieve brilliant results without much effort.

The happy features of their nature are an easy, friendly character and sociability. "C" grades are desirable in any society. Their luck and independence can cause envy and irritation among others.

Negative vibrations can be arrogance, arrogance, superficiality, frivolity and selfishness.

Four, or Tetrad, is the number of the creative forces of the Universe: fire, earth, air and water. They correspond to four types of human temperament: choleric (fire), melancholic (earth), sanguine (air) and phlegmatic (water). These are also four seasons, four periods of human life (spring - childhood, summer - youth, autumn - maturity, winter - old age), four blood groups and four cardinal directions.

It was not for nothing that the thinkers of antiquity considered the Four as a symbol of strength and unshakable truth. Four has always meant and means stability.

It is also reliability, order, integrity, completeness, harmony, rationality, perseverance, realism and perfect balance of elements, living processes, objects and people. In contrast to the dynamic Three, this is the desire for peace, restriction, discipline and hard work.

Geometrically, the Tetrad is represented by a square - a solid and strong figure. She is also symbolized by a rectangular cross. The upper half of the cross is the area of all the highest aspirations of a person, his good deeds and thoughts. Its lower part is the focus of low forces - evil and unseemly deeds. The right half of the cross indicates favorable external influences, the left half indicates unfavorable ones. Thus, the cross orients a person in the world, helping to deal with good and bad influences.

People living with Four vibrations are unusually hardworking, reliable, constant in their affections, patient, remain calm under any circumstances, and are ready to master any task, even an unloved one. They represent, as it were, the foundation of society, they honor traditions, respect authority and observe conventions. Everything in life is given to them through hard work, so from an early age they are characterized by frugality. Such people know how to appreciate help and good advice and are faithful in friendship.

The number four is not considered the most lucky; it can mean difficulties, restrictions, little reward, and even need. In any case, it is always hard work, overcoming, some clumsiness, excessive conservatism and lag.

Five, or Pentad, is a complex and most unpredictable number, but at the same time one of the luckiest and happiest. It symbolizes constant quest and self-improvement, creative freedom, change, risk, versatility, adventurism, activity, movement forward and constant development.

Five can be decomposed into Two and Three - feminine and masculine numbers, which together give fruit. Because of this feature, Five has long symbolized reproduction and fertility and is the patron of marriage. This is probably why in ancient Rome the wedding ceremony was accompanied by five candles.

The unpredictability of this number determines possible uncertainty, nervousness, mobility, the search for results and truth through constant experiments, travel and experience.

Pythagoras and his followers considered the Five a symbol of health, and the ancient Egyptians - prosperity. A person has five senses - sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste, and he has five fingers on his hands and feet.

Geometrically, the Pentad is most often represented as a pentagon, sometimes as a pyramid or a five-pointed star, which served as one of the varieties of the ancient seal of Solomon.

People under the influence of the Five are characterized by such qualities as success, variability, and a penchant for risk and adventure. They love travel and any changes in life, including new acquaintances, prefer creative, varied work and hate routine. The Five protects researchers and travelers, preventing them from stumbling.

Diversity is preferable for Fives in their personal lives as well. They easily succumb to new feelings, rarely limit themselves to one novel, monotony depresses them and pushes them to new hobbies.

However, in friendship they are faithful and constant. An optimistic perception of life does not allow them to be sad for a long time; they know how to find joy and entertainment everywhere, come up with holidays and direct their thoughts only in a positive direction.

At the same time, “Fives” are characterized by some irresponsibility, rashness, recklessness, frivolity and instability of the nervous system.

Six. Despite its apparent simplicity, it is a complex and multifaceted symbol that has many interpretations. Since ancient times it has been revered as a perfect number, the number of creation. Its information code means creativity, creation, labor, work. According to biblical teaching, God created the world in six days. Therefore, six is quite a sufficient number. We are commanded to work for six days so that we can then rest.

Six has always been considered the happiest number, the personification of perfection and harmony in everything. This number is ideal: it is divisible by both even (2) and odd (3) numbers, thus combining their positive qualities.

The number 6 is excellent and in harmony with nature itself. This is confirmed by perfect honeycombs, flowers with six petals, and crystals in the shape of hexagons.

Six symbolizes perfect balance, health, beauty, luck, happiness, responsibility, love, integrity, justice, family, healing, creativity, creation and reliability.

Geometrically, the Six is represented in the form of two equilateral intersecting and mirror-reflected triangles - ascending (top up) and descending (top down). Two intertwined triangles symbolize the masculine and feminine principles. This symbol is a six-pointed star, or hexagram (from the Greek hex - six and gramma - line, line). In ancient times, the Six was called the Star of Creation, the Star of Solomon, and the Sign of the Macrocosm.

People under the influence of the Six tend to see only the best in everything and generally idealize the surrounding reality and people. They always strive to create their own special world, so that nothing disturbs its harmony. As a rule, they are alien to selfishness, self-indulgence, and intolerance; they are virtuous and merciful. Anyone who has achieved success in life usually understands the importance of helping those in need and engages in charity.

Most often, “sixes” are energetic, cheerful and life-loving; they are wonderful comrades, faithful spouses, and responsible parents. It is quite difficult to detect shortcomings in such people. Sometimes this can be excessive idealism, because of which they may neglect everyday material concerns and miss out on interesting offers and rare chances to advance.

Romanticism and even some maximalism do not contribute to their determination to win. Such people often let things take their course, believing that they are doing only the right thing - everything should be as it should be.

A lack of everyday practicality and excessive good nature can hinder career growth and the achievement of a prestigious position for “sixes”. They should cultivate strength of character and determination.

Seven– a very wise number, creative and unique in its indivisibility. It symbolizes mystery, something unfamiliar and invisible, as well as study, knowledge and the path of exploring the unknown. Since ancient times, the amazing Seven has aroused the admiration of philosophers and magicians. This number is completely already in itself - it is not divisible by anything except Seven, that is, itself, and One. It does not generate any number and is not generated by any number.

This is an exclusively natural number, close to space. It is embodied in many natural phenomena: the seven colors of the rainbow, the seven ruling planets visible to the naked eye, including the Sun, the Moon, the Earth, the seven days of the week, the seven notes of the scale, the seven cosmic spheres, the seven circles of hell, the seven metals of alchemists. There are many proverbs mentioning the Seven: seven nannies have a child without an eye, seven do not expect one, etc.

It has always been believed that the Seven is associated with the spiritual side, acting on Earth as a divine or creative force. It aims a person at a higher mind, at better actions, subordinate to the spiritual as a whole.

In the seven-day labor cycle of a person, the seventh day after six days of work is prescribed for him as a day of rest. This is what the prophet Moses taught, and modern science has paid tribute to his covenant. It turns out that a seven-day cycle of work and rest is optimal for a person, since rest on one day of the week is enough to take a breath and accumulate strength for a new work cycle, as well as remember about your soul - think about high things, turn to God, sort out your thoughts.

Seven stands for wisdom, analysis, philosophy, intuition, seeking answers, understanding, truth, calm, comprehensiveness and turning inward. This is the number of contemplatives and analysts, people immersed in their thoughts. Seven also gives people special insight, patience and psychic abilities. Anyone who successfully falls under its influence becomes a thinker, philosopher, humanist, and the greatest scientist. In modern everyday life, this number is considered lucky and brings good luck.

Eight– a very active and complex number. The very amazing shape of the figure eight - two touching circles - indicates its duality, the merging of the spiritual and material worlds in it. This is peace and harmony, balance of all elements and qualities, balance between spiritual and material. This is also the number of achievements.

In antiquity, it was revered as a symbol of justice, since eight is divided into equal parts, without giving preference to any of them. The Eight doubles the reliability and stability of the Four, bringing it to perfection. It can be thought of as a double square. All these characteristics are explained by the sequential divisibility of the Eight in half by whole numbers, obtaining equal parts each time.

In addition to the stability of vibration, the Eights promise and bring stable material wealth and power, further strengthening the positions of their owners. Being a symbol of universal harmony, the Eight radiates calm, bliss and peacefulness, gives the fulfillment of plans, recognition, the right decision, and good fate. If this number is rotated 90°, it becomes an infinity sign, which gives hope for eternal life. Thus, it is also a symbol of the infinite Universe and eternal peace.

People influenced by the Eight have a strong and energetic character, they are practical and can arrange their destiny in a worthy manner. Rushing only forward, they successfully implement their progressive plans.

Some negative effects of the good Eight are also possible. Already the first part of this number - Four - carries not the most attractive vibrations - difficulties, overcoming, limitations. However, the Eight significantly mitigates this negative impact and generally provides positive energy.

It is curious that the fate of A.S. Pushkin was connected with the Eight. The most significant events in the poet’s life took place on days whose dates add up to the number 8 (17, 26). Mysterious, mystical coincidences! Eight is a sign of the highest justice: everyone is given what they deserve, and retribution is inevitable. The same figure haunted the Romanov family.

Nine- the most perfect and largest of all elementary numbers. It contains all the numbers from 1 to 9, and therefore it includes the characteristics and properties of the whole group, the whole life, the whole cycle, the full circle - 360° (3 + 6 + 0 = 9). An important feature of this number is that Nine, multiplied by any number, always reproduces itself in the sum of the numbers. For example, 3? 9 = 27 = 2 + 7 = 9 or 5? 9 = 45 = 4 + 5 = 9, etc.

Nine can be represented as three times three, and Three is a wonderful symbol that triples in a new quality, while making itself as stable as possible. Since ancient times, Nine has symbolized universal success, fertility, initiation into the mysteries of life, the foundation of the mind, and higher mental and spiritual activity. It was believed that she was able to ward off evil forces. Nine, as it were, accumulates physical strength and is inextricably linked with everything material, including the person himself. She instills in him energy and strength, hope for a favorable outcome.

This number protects powerful and proud people. They have many ambitious plans, they are full of ebullient energy and exorbitant ambitions, they always strive for primacy in everything and achieve success in life.

At the same time, Nine is humanism, compassion, love, selflessness, patience, calmness and selfless service. This is a harmonious family life, mutual care, good upbringing and education. People with Nine vibrations usually have excellent physical characteristics and good health.

In addition to the nine main numbers, some numerologists also study other numbers - 11, 12, 22, etc. The numbers 11 and 22 are considered especially important, they are paid attention to and are called master numbers. However, in general, their vibrations can be reduced to the enhanced properties of Two, Three and Four, respectively.

Pythagorean figures

Numbers for Pythagoras are his element; he studied them comprehensively, including in the geometric aspect. For each number he assigned a corresponding figure, but just as all numbers have different properties, so the figures are not equally endowed with mystical powers. The history of the properties of geometric figures is interesting and instructive.

Pythagoras believed that the beginning and end of all things are in an abstract quantity called the Monad, or Unit. The unit symbolizes the absolute as the universal generating creative principle and each of its images in any plane of the Universe. The Monad contains the entire Universe and contains all opposites at the same time: beginning and end, good and evil, light and darkness, plus and minus, creation and destruction, love and hate. The Monad penetrates absolutely all things, but at the same time is not in any of them. It represents the sum of all numbers, but always remains an indivisible whole.

The Pythagoreans represented the Monad as a figure consisting of ten points - nodes, or pebbles. This figure, which the Pythagoreans called tetractys, is formed by nine equilateral triangles, personifying the completeness of the universal emptiness (see Fig. 1.1).

Magical figures became widespread in the Middle Ages, during the heyday of numerological magic as one of the branches of occult science. Both magicians and ordinary people firmly believed in the power of these figures. Numerologists sought to prove the magical effect of numbers on life, people and nature, on all phenomena of the material world. For example, the figure of a triad (Fig. 1.2), in addition to trinity, reflects the duality, sixfold and duodecimal nature of the universe, and two Triads form a hexagram (Fig. 1.3).

Perfect Pentagram

The geometric symbol of the Five, the pentagram, is especially attractive. This was Pythagoras’s favorite figure, and, as life has shown, for good reason. We can say that a whole layer of human history is connected with it. This mysterious figure has attracted and continues to attract the attention of everyone interested in magic.

Translated from Greek, “pentagram” means “five letters” or “five lines.” It symbolizes the Five and is graphically depicted as an ordinary five-pointed star. The number five and the symbols associated with it have always had a special meaning for humans (five fingers, five senses).

The Greeks also called the pentagram pentalpha, which meant five letters “A”. In magic, this symbol has long been widely known as the pentacle.

The pentagram is a regular geometric figure with five-ray symmetry, which is found only in living organisms, that is, it embodies in its form one of the differences between living and nonliving things. This is a kind of embodiment of spiritual-physical harmony, the union of heaven and earth. The number five symbolized the macrocosm of the human body and mind, reproduction and fertility.

The pentagram became the symbol of the Pythagorean school, or, in modern terms, its logo. In the ancient world as a whole, this sign embodied health and was considered a geometric symbol of harmony, health and mystical powers. In later times it was used by various secret societies. Gnostics and alchemists associated it with the five elements; Christians compared the pentagram with the five wounds of Jesus Christ; the Jews considered it a symbol of the Torah (Pentateuch); medieval sorcerers identified it with the legendary power of Solomon over the earthly and other worlds.

In magical rituals, special powers were attributed to pentacles depicted on parchment made from the skin of a young bull. This figure was depicted on wood, stones, amulets, rings and worn as body talismans. People believed that a magic sign would protect their home from dark forces

and enemies, and for this they put his image on the doors and thresholds of their houses. Pentacles were inscribed in a protective circle, and they acquired the properties of a talisman. Mages used the pentacle to summon spirits.

There are ten different ways to depict a pentagram. It is believed that they are unequal, because the process of reproducing the pentacle was also magical. The pentacle in the form of a flaming star served as a symbol of Masonic dedication and illumination, therefore it was drawn with tufts of flame along the edges of the rays.

Over time, a human figure was placed in the pentagram, and it became the embodiment of the human personality (Fig. 1.4).

Rice. 1.4. Pentagram - symbol of man

The four rays meant arms and legs and symbolized the four elements - air, fire, water and earth, and the fifth ray represented the head and embodied the spirit that rules over these elements.

Good always goes side by side with evil; the two opposites are contained in the Five itself - the pentagram. A reflection of this was the use of the pentagram with evil intent, for which it was endowed with the satanic features of a goat-like demon (Fig. 1.5).

The positive protective properties of the pentagram have made it almost indispensable in magical rituals. A pentacle with one end pointing upward and two ends pointing down began to serve as a sign of white magic. An inverted pentagram with one end pointing down and two points pointing up is the embodiment of black magic and perverted human nature. When the amulet is turned over, its positive power is lost, dark forces take over, and it has a bad influence. This is the so-called “goat’s hoof” and “devil’s horns”.

Hexagram, or shield of David

The hexagram, or six-pointed star, is a geometric image of the Six. This is the number of perfection, and the figure corresponding to it is also perfect and proportional. Containing two triangles, the hexagram symbolizes absolute symmetry: both below and above. From a geometric point of view, the hexagram is even more perfect than the five-pointed star, although the pentagram has always been magically stronger, which is not surprising, since 5 is an odd number.

The hexagram is a very ancient and revered symbol. Its first images date back to the end of the 4th millennium. It was known in ancient Egypt, the Middle East, India and Europe. This sign was depicted on Christian churches, Muslim mosques and Jewish synagogues. It can be argued that this symbol was originally international, although over time the situation has changed.

In Hebrew manuscripts there is a hexagonal symbol, or magen-David (shield of David). The hexagram was not always related to Jewish symbolism. In the Middle and Near East, she was a symbol of the cult of the goddess Astarte. The black stone of the Kaaba in Mecca is covered with a cape depicting hexagonal stars.

Today, most often the hexagram (the shield of David, the seal of Solomon) is perceived exclusively as a Jewish symbol. It is believed that the shield in the form of a six-pointed star protected the Israeli king David from enemies. The hexagram is also seen as a symbol with the help of which another Israeli king, Solomon, controlled the spirits.

Emperor Charles IV granted the Jews of Prague the privilege of having their own flag, and they inscribed Magen David on it. As a Jewish symbol, the hexagram began to be used in Prague, then in other Jewish communities in Europe. As an amulet or part of an ornament, the hexagram is drawn both in Muslim cemeteries and on the graves of Russian nobles of the 19th century.

Heinrich Heine put a hexagram instead of a signature under his articles. Subsequently, she became a symbol of the Zionist movement. This sign accompanied millions of Jews on the path to their mass extermination, which gave the six-pointed star a tragic meaning - it became a symbol of unity, suffering and hope.
