The childhood of Alexei Batalov

Alexey Batalov was born in Vladimir, in a creative family. His parents - Vladimir Batalov and Nina Olshevskaya - worked at the Moscow Art Theater. All childhood memories of the future actor were associated primarily with the theater.

In the 30s, Alexei's parents divorced. The second time his mother married writer Victor Ardov. Already an adult, Batalov always speak with warmth and respect about his stepfather, because Ardov took care of the stepson as his own son, trying to raise a highly moral person from him. By the way, the famous comedian actress Anna Ardova is his niece.

The newly-minted family was not easy at first, as they lived next to Viktor's first wife. But a few years later they bought a new apartment and settled in the house of writers. The Ardovs often visited Soviet film stars and great creators: Anna Akhmatova, Boris Pasternak, Osip Mandelstam. Undoubtedly, they influenced the formation of the personality of the future actor.

In 1941, Alexei’s childhood abruptly ended - a war came ... Mother and son evacuated to Bugulma (Tataria). And even there, the woman did not change her profession, having independently organized a small theater. 14-year-old Alex helped his mother, and gradually took on small small roles.

Education of Alexey Batalov

Alexey Batalov grew up in such an exalted artistic environment that he simply could not have any doubts about his future profession. The only thing he was not sure about was his abilities, because, he believed, without real talent, there was nothing to do on the stage of the theater.

With the end of the war, the family returned to Moscow, where Alexei graduated from high school and entered the Moscow Art Theater. After graduating in 1950, he worked in the theater for the next three years. Soviet army.

Professional development of Alexey Batalov

For the first time, Alexei Batalov appeared on the movie screen in his school years. In 1944, he played in a film about the Soviet partisan Kosmodemyanskaya (Zoya, directed by Leo Arnstam). The next movie work followed only 10 years after leaving the army theater. She turned out to be the role of the worker from the film "The Big Family" Joseph Heifits. Looking ahead, we note that the cooperation of the actor and the director turned out to be very fruitful: in 1955 Batalov played in the film "The Case of Rumyantsev", in 1960 - in the film "Lady with a Dog", and in 1964 the picture "Day of Happiness" was released. Kheifits was the director of all these works.

In 1957, Alexei Batalov and Tatyana Samoilova appeared in the lead roles in the military melodrama Cranes Are Flying. The surprisingly emotional film made a splash even at the Cannes Film Festival, having won the main award - the Golden Palm Branch.

Later Batalov played a variety of roles - ordinary students, workers, soldiers. Nevertheless, all his heroes shared a common feature - intelligence and fortitude. Separately, there is only the main role in the film "Lady with the Dog", shot on the basis of the eponymous novel by Anton Chekhov. The picture deservedly won many awards, but the actor was not easy to cope with the image of Gurov.

The versatility of Alexei Batalov's talents: career development

Alexey Batalov did not limit himself to just one area of \u200b\u200bactivity. Since the beginning of the 60s, the actor began to get involved in directing. In total, he shot three films: "The Overcoat" (1959), "Three Fat Men" (1966) and "The Player" (1972). The most successful many critics recognize the film "Three Fat Men", where Alex also acted as an actor and director. The adaptation of the classic work was distinguished by a reverent attitude to the author's text, as well as the presence of numerous tricks without insurance. Batalov himself played the role of a tightrope walker and independently performed an extremely dangerous trick.

Alexey Batalov about the film "Three Fat Men"

An important place in the life of Batalov was occupied by radio shows. Thanks to the actor’s new hobby, well-known radio shows appeared: The Hero of Our Time by Mikhail Lermontov, The Cossacks of Leo Tolstoy, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare and many others.

Since 1974, the actor took up the scoring of cartoons. Viewers could hear his voice in the most famous Soviet cartoons: “Hedgehog in the Fog”, “Traveling Frog”, “Keys to the Time”. Since 1975, Batalov taught at VGIK, and in 1980 received a professorship and headed one of the departments.

Thus, we can safely say that Alexey Batalov has long been one of the most prominent figures in Russian cinema. So it may seem strange to someone that in 1979 a brilliant actor decided to play in the seemingly quite ordinary melodrama of Vladimir Menshov. Nevertheless, the film “Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears” was eventually scattered into quotes and became an adornment of Russian cinema.

The director carefully selected the actor for the role of Gosha, but only Alexey was convincing. And who would have been able to play more naturally the role of a simple locksmith, who has a casual acquaintance with a woman in public transport, who strictly educates the young generation, sometimes who drinks, but who is capable of falling in love with women from all over the country? Another actor, a different manner or even a look could turn this sincere character into an ordinary boor. The charming Vera Alentova, the wife of Menshov, who played the main female role in the film, the “Iron Lady” Ekaterina Tikhomirova, was also admired.

In 1981, “Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears,” was awarded the Academy Award. Oscar in the nomination "Best Foreign Film" was a confirmation of the genius of the tape. In this film, Batalov almost ended his acting career, devoting time to teaching and voice acting of animated films. Among his last acting works: “Speed”, “Umbrella for the bride and groom,” “Dossier of a man in a Mercedes,” “Poltergeist-90.” Also, Alexey Batalov appeared with a cameo in a remake of the film Eldar Ryazanov "Carnival Night: 50 Years Later."

His chosen one was the girl Irina Rotova, the daughter of the artist Konstantin Rotov, familiar to the actor from childhood. Soon, a young family was born daughter Nadia. Her birth coincided with the career rise of Alexei: he worked constantly, but there was no time left for his wife and child. Family ties did not pass such tests and, when my daughter was three years old, the couple broke up. Unfortunately, Batalov’s relationship with eldest daughter did not work out and subsequently they practically did not communicate.

The second choice of Batalov was the circus performer Gitan Leontenko. She worked in the circus since 4 years old and masterfully performed deadly numbers. The actor saw her during a circus performance and fell in love without a memory. For many years they met occasionally, without mutual obligations, until in 1963 they were married.

This union turned out to be lasting, happiness was marred only by the illness of the daughter of Masha (born in 1968), who suffered from cerebral palsy. As parents believed, the girl received a terrible ailment due to a medical error during childbirth. Gitana was forced to leave work and devote herself to a child. And the actor himself gradually fenced off from other people and even close relatives. He devoted his whole life to taking care of his wife and daughter. His efforts have borne fruit. Maria Alekseevna has many achievements - she is engaged in charity work, is a member of the Writers' Union, writes scripts; one of them was filmed ("House on the Promenade des Anglais").

The young husband could not tear and devote time to the theater, cinema and wife with his daughter. Batalov himself admitted that he was a worthless father for Nadia. The marriage predictably ended after 3 years. And the relationship did not work out anymore - Batalov did not communicate with his wife and daughter. They met at most once a year.

Maybe in punishment or for the opportunity to correct this mistake, Batalov had a second daughter - Mashenka. She was born married to circus rider Gitana Leontenko. Childhood and youth

Alexey Batalov was born on November 20, 1928 in the city of Vladimir, in a very famous acting family. Father Vladimir Batalov was a famous actor and director, mother Nina Olshevskaya was also an actress. Parents met at the Moscow Art Theater, in which both served. They often took the boy with them, so almost all of his childhood was spent in the back room of the Moscow Art Theater. In 1933, Alyosha's parents divorced, and Nina Olshanskaya married again. Her chosen one was the famous writer Viktor Ardov, who treated the boy in the same way as with his sons. So Alexei had two brothers - in 1937 Mikhail was born and in 1940 - Boris.

From the age of five, Alexei lived with his stepfather, whom he always considered the closest person. The boy and mother settled near Ardov, but the life of the family was complicated by the fact that the writer’s first wife lived through the wall from them. So they lived for several years, and then managed to buy an apartment located in the house of writers, and moved to new housing.

In the neighborhood with them Mandelstam lived, and this circumstance very beneficially affected the upbringing of the boy. They were surrounded by the best representatives of the intelligentsia of the country of Soviets, figures of national culture.

Very often the Ardovs hosted it, and little Alyosha liked this company very much.

The happy childhood time ended in 1941 - the war broke out. Batalov and his mother left Moscow and left for evacuation to Bugulma. Mom was a real theater actress, so even in the evacuation she did not sit idly by. She managed to organize her own theater, in which evacuated artists and their children were involved. At that time, Alexei was already 15, and he rendered all possible assistance to his mother in the theater, and soon appeared on the stage, trying on himself the images of minor heroes. As a child, Alexei realized that the theater entered his life forever, but he doubted whether he would have enough talent to achieve certain success.

Theater

Theatrical biography of Alexei Batalov began during the war years. He first appeared on stage in Bugulma, in a theater organized by his mother.

A film debut took place in 1944, when Alexei and his mother returned from evacuation to Moscow. Then he and the class were invited to shoot the film "Zoya", about the well-known underground worker Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya. Unlike classmates, Batalov had a role with the words that needed to be said in front of the camera lens.

After leaving school, Alexey Batalov entered the Moscow Art Theater School, and learned the basics of acting under the guidance of S.K. Blinnikov and V.Ya. Stanitsyn. The decision to connect his life with the stage was very explainable - all of his relatives were artistic. Batalov studied easily, he was lucky with teachers, whom he always recalled with a feeling of deep gratitude. Do not learn good manners when they are led by Princess Volkonskaya herself, only a notorious dumbass could. Batalov received a diploma of graduation from the Studio School in 1950, and was immediately drafted into the army.

Alexey Batalov served in the Central Theater of the Soviet Army, on the stage of which he went on for three years.

In 1953, Batalov entered the service at the Moscow Art Theater, and remained faithful to him until 1957. Alexei Batalov considered the theater his fate, his native home. Probably because his parents served at the Moscow Art Theater, and the first childhood impressions were connected with the theatrical stage. Little Alyosha did not see another life, so he thought that adults have no other job, only here.

Films

The film debut was the film "Zoya", directed by Leo Arnstam in 1944. Then there was a ten-year break, and only in 1954 Batalov was invited to the shooting of the film "The Big Family", directed by Joseph Kheifits. Batalov got the role of the main character. But the directors did not give up, and nevertheless decided to give Batalov the opportunity to read the script. By mail, they sent him to Simferopol, in the eye center, where the actor was treated. Batalov's reaction was instantaneous - he quit treatment and went on his first flight to the capital to confirm his readiness to work on a new project.

This picture is about the everyday life of physicists involved in nuclear engineering. The plot is based in part on real events. Batalov was supposed to show the seriousness of what happened, but not in a tragic context, but in the realities of the time. Due to a medical error, the girl was born with cerebral palsy, and her parents made a lot of efforts to socially adapt her. Maria managed to graduate from the VGIK script department, started writing scripts, published one book, and she was even accepted into the Writers' Union.

Country conflict

Alexey Batalov is not a scandalous person, but he also had to face a lawsuit in his life. The reason for this was his own cottage, located near the writer village of Peredelkino. Batalov has been the owner for many years suburban area in the Michurinets cooperative, he even managed to overpower the construction of a small house, but one day he learns that several hundredths of his land belong to his neighbor, the jeweler Vadim Elgart. This enterprising man managed to draw up documents on the right of ownership, taking part of the land belonging to Batalov.

Elhart made a fuss and built a bathhouse at this place, and Batalov, out of ignorance, signed a document to him, which, as it turned out later, turned out to be an act to delimit the boundaries of the plots. Most likely Batalov did not even understand what he was signing, and a clever neighbor could say that it was just an autograph.

According to the documents Batalov’s dacha belongs to his daughter Maria, since the artist has drawn up all the relying documents on her for a long time. It turns out that when he put his signature, he was not the owner of the dacha, and the document can be considered invalid, but the court proceedings continued for more than one year. Batalov even wrote an appeal to the mayor of the capital, asking him to understand this process.

An obstacle to justice was the fact that the jeweler does not own the dacha either; he presented it to his daughter, who lives in the USA. Naturally, she cannot attend a meeting in Russia, and the process has been going on for years.

Numerous fans of the artist followed all the vicissitudes of this conflict, and did not lose hope that he would be resolved in favor of Batalov. The incident reached the chairman of the IC of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, but no significant progress in the matter has happened. As a result, Alexei Batalov is fighting alone, and even the all-Union fame did not help him achieve the result. The decision on the issue of alienation was never made.
