There is nothing complicated in the distillation process itself, but if it is organized on a solid industrial scale, then many problems arise.

In relatively small quantities, distilled water is usually obtained in a separate room (cocktoria or still room). Sometimes they use a separate place, fenced off to the very ceiling. It is forbidden to carry out any work in these premises that is not related to the distillation of water.

How to get distilled water

  • Pour water from an ordinary tap, let it stand for about an hour or two (it is necessary for chlorine and hydrogen sulfide to evaporate). If the kettle was on the stove (boiled water), then this is even better, which means that chlorine has not been there for a long time. Turn on the stove and let the kettle boil.
  • Now we remove all sorts of "whistles" and so on from the nose so that the steam comes out and nothing bothers it. We pour this steam over the insides of our glasses - ALL! Drops should collect on the walls, which will flow down, hold it for a minute so that this steam removes all sediment from the walls. Now all our glasses are all clean (by the way, we need to "pour over" the container, where we will collect distilled water later).
  • Next, 4 large glasses, put to cool on the balcony so that they are right here cold.
  • After they have cooled down, we start the kettle again so that the steam comes out, we put it on the middle position so that the steam is intense, but so that there is not so much. Down under the "spout" we put a glass (or container) into which we will collect. Now, one by one, we bring large glasses above the spout, drops begin to form on the walls and they will flow down in a stream (into our container).

  • I will immediately answer why exactly 4 pieces, but simply because the glasses are warming up, they are inconvenient to hold, and the process of condensation in hot ones is not so effective. Therefore, you need to alternately bring one or the other (while the rest are cooling). Thus, the steam that condenses and enters the lower vessel is the distillate.

How to test distilled water
